Though never completed, considerable ground work was put into the production of a potential Monkey Island movie. It was to be called 'The Curse of Monkey Island', though it bore little similarity to the game of the same name. Steve Purcell was known to have released some concept art for the movie drawn by his own hand. The Curse of Monkey Island is the third game in LucasArts' Monkey Island franchise. The game is the first in the series to feature voice acting and a completely hand drawn graphics. It is also the first to include a new control interface lifted from Full Throttle. The Curse of Monkey Island is the third in the series and follows on from the events in Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge. It was developed by LucasArts and published in 1997 and is the last game to use the SCUMM engine.
